“Tallow, derived from rendered animal fat, may seem unusual to apply on the skin, yet it’s a time-honored practice our ancestors trusted for centuries. With a saturated fat profile nearly identical to our own skin cells, tallow naturally supports repair and healing. At Dacus, we source only nutrient-rich, grass-fed and grass-finished beef suet, creating a powerhouse moisturizer that deeply nourishes, restores balance, and brings out your skin’s natural glow.”

Tallow is an incredible skincare ingredient because it’s so similar to the natural oils in our own skin. Rich in cholesterol and healthy fats, it helps repair and strengthen the skin’s barrier, lock in moisture, and keep skin soft and smooth. Grass-fed, grass-finished tallow is also full of vitamins A, D, E, and K—nutrients that calm, nourish, and support a healthy, natural glow. It’s like giving your skin exactly what it needs to thrive—pure, simple, and time-tested.

Dacus tallow-based products are not vegan. Tallow is rendered animal fat, most commonly from beef, which makes it an animal-derived ingredient. At Dacus, we use only 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef tallow sourced from trusted Southern Ontario farms to ensure the highest quality and sustainability.
For those seeking plant-based options, we also offer oil-based skincare formulations made with organic, raw, and therapeutic-grade oils. These vegan-friendly products deliver the same nourishing, glow-restoring benefits without any animal ingredients.

Whipped Tallow has a light, fluffy texture that melts easily into the skin. It spreads smoothly, absorbs quickly, and is perfect for everyday use on the face, body, and hands. If you like a silky, airy feel, whipped tallow is the best choice.
Tallow Balm is thicker and more concentrated, offering a rich protective layer. It takes a little longer to absorb but provides deep, long-lasting moisture. Balm is ideal for very dry areas, cracked heels, chapped skin, eczema-prone spots, or winter care when skin needs extra protection.
Both textures deliver deep nourishment, hydration, and skin-healing properties because they’re made from the same nutrient-rich, grass-fed tallow.

All-natural means every batch may look or feel a little different—that’s the beauty of nature!
Rest assured, we always use the same high-quality ingredients and handcrafted method every time. Since tallow is fat/oil-based, it naturally firms up in cooler temperatures and softens when warm. If your balm feels firm, just warm it between your hands and watch it melt right into your skin.
